Owners of iDevices(iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) would be excited to tackle Apple head to head as new line up of iDevices is expected to be announced on June 7. Besides, iPhone firmware has also been upgraded and ready to release on June 7 for general public. iPhone Firmware 4.0 has been released for developers and hackers have already accomplished jailbreak 4.0. iPhone Dev team has also released redsn0w 0.9.5 beta for developers of jailbroken apps. There was an outstanding issue between Hackers and Apple i.e. unlock for new baseband firmware 05.12.01 which has been exploited but there has been no official release. It has still to be confirmed whether this unlock will also persist for new baseband 05.13.03 on iPhone 4.0.

A sneak peak about the domain can be found here, limera1n. If we develop an analogy of limera1n with blackra1n which is GeoHot’s previous jailbreaking solution, following points are observed
- limera1n will be an all in one solution to jailbreak iPhone 4.0 running on 4G, 3GS, and 3G as well as iPod Touch 4G and 3G.
- The interface would be simple as blackra1n and user will make a simple click to execute limera1n jailbreak.
- limera1n will be available both for Windows and Mac.
- limera1n for iPhone 4G, 3Gs, and 3G may contain a solution to unlock it as well which may be named “limesn0w” (Depending upon previous terminology for tools)
- limera1n jailbreak for 4.0 will be released as limera1n rc1.

Blew away my 4.0.1 jailbreak to 4.1 on my iPhone 4G. Ran the limera1n jailbreak (appeared to work [got limera1n logo]). After reboot, back to Apple logo, and no limera1n app to download Cydia.
What gives?

No it dosnt greenpois0n is alot slower than limera1n ive used both greenpois0n is so slow compare to limera1n also my ipod touch 3g is a mc model and it worked with limera1n so everything u have said is wrong

I have an iPhone 3GS software 4.1 and have tried this twice. Even though I have iTunes set to not come up when I connect, it does anyway and the application says that it detects that my iPhone is in recovery mode. I can only recover from that point on.

I tried jailbreaking with limera1n… now my phone does NOT WORK!!! It can't be turned on… what can I do??? HEEEELPPP!!!!
try to connect it to the computer to restore it, or keep pressing home button and power button, if none of this works take it to the apple store and tell them that you tried to update it and it wouldnt turn back on
and they should fix it for free they will just hook it up to their computer and it will come right on!
try to reboot your phone by holding the sleep button and the home button down until it comes on
i have an iphone 3g with ios 4.1 i tried to jailbreak it using limera1n i followed the instructions but now it got stuck to dfu mode so i removed it and tried to restore it using itunes, i tried many times but i only get unkown errors..can someone help me? will i still be able to restore my iphone?
unplug the usb cable !
keep holding the power button until the screen goes black

I recommend you trying redsnow , but you shouldnt be jailbreaking a 3g because it slows the phone down incredibly.
Well update iTunes to 10.01, remove any firewalls you have, click restore and voila
for all of those who cant find the limera1n icon… if this still helps just so you know if you reset ipod/iphone setting via the iDevice itself (not ITUNES!!!!) it will "appear" after that..

ok just to make this clear to everyone that is reading along the comments Limera1n will not jailbreak IOS 4.2.1 it wasnt updated our best bet for IOS 4.2.1 is greenpois0n there releasing a 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak at some point and might even make it updated for IOs 4.3 thats coming out IOD 4.3 has some kl features for ipad check it out

Ummm please help. I hav and ipod 4g (4.2.1) and i cant get limera1n to work. I plug it into my cpu n it goes into rcovery mode and i follow every instruction and then the apple sign jus pops up again. Can someone please help!!!!
No sorry the jailbreak with limera1n only works on 4.0, 4.0.2 and 4.1 wait until another jailbreak comes out like resdnow or comex jailbreak
i had the same problem and now it just says to connect to itunes. when i connect to itunes it says its in recovery mode and to restore. i tried to restore like 5 times and it gives me an error message every time i have an4th gen ipod touch with 4.2
press and hold the power and home button till the screen goes black. then press the power button and its like nothing ever happened. i did the same thing.

I tried to jailbreak my iphone 3gs with limera1n after the dfu mode it said exploring or something like that and then it show a note saying: enjoy your jailbroken iphone, but… do i have to see an icon in my iphone or something 'cuz i didn't see it . you will need to make sure that your iPhone's software is not too advanced for the program to jailbreak. I tried it with my iPad recently and it didnt work then I realized my iPad software is too "up to date" and cannot be jailbroken yet..
