Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 has been released by iPhone Dev Team which support untethered jailbreak for devices unning on iOS 4.3.1. This release does not support iPad 2. Since there is no iOS 4.3.1 for iPhone 4 CDMA, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G, Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 does not support it.

Here is a step by step guide to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. For reference, iPhone 4 is being used. You can replace any other iOS 4.3.1 compatible device.

Stuff Required

1. It is better that you are running stock version of iOS 4.3.1 although Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 will work over already tethered jailbreak.

2. Launch Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 and you will see following screen.

3. Click on “Browse” and select the respective 4.3.1 IPSW for your iDevice.

4. Now, check “Install Cydia” and hit “Next”.

5. Turn your device off and connect with your System then click “Next”.

6. Now, you have to follow onscreen instructions by Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 to get iOS device in DFU mode.

  • First, you need to Press “Power” button
  • While holding “Power” button, press “Home” button. Keep these buttons pressed for 10 seconds.
  • Release Power button while keep holding Home Button for another 15 seconds.

7. Let Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 do its part and when it is done your iDevice will restart automatically.

8. Cydia icon would appear on iOS Device’s home screen and it is jailbroken on iOS 4.3.1.
