We are eagerly waiting for iPad 2’s announcement in February and its launch in April but word has spread about probable iPad 3 launch in September. iPad 3! You heard it right. The speculation about iPad 3 began yesterday after HP announced its TouchPad. There are some sound reasons to speculate about iPad 3’s launch in Q4 2011.
We already got word on iPad 2 features like Dual Core processor, NFC Capabilities and dual cameras. A recent report indicated that iPad 2 production has begun. The report also claims that there will be improvements in processing power and other areas but no dramatic change in display quality and resolution. Motorola Xoom has left iPad’s resolution behind and LG G-Slate is ready to give 3D experience. So, Apple would surely like to meet the advancement in display arena quickly with iPad 3. It is very likely that Apple secretly invested 4.3 billion dollar to meet this.
Apple has a release cycle of 1 year then why would Apple iPad 3 some months after iPad 2. Probably, Apple would like to cash holiday season more. iPad has been huge hit but users likely hesitate to buy in holiday season as next generation of iPad is not very far. Therefore, announcement of next generation iPad in September and its launch near holiday season would dramatically increase iPad sales. Apple would likely to change its release cycle with iPad 3.
In our opinion, iPad 3 on iOS 5.1 might be announced in Septmeber but it will be available by mid of November to maximize the release time between iPad 2 and iPad 3. Also, iPad 3 will potentially be an upgrade in display technology and resolution. It is not going to be an overhaul in processing capabilities that are coming with iPad 2. Haven’t we already heard about double resolution in iPad 3?
