Traditionally, redsnow supports jailbreaking every new firmware. However, in some cases it is broken due to the changes Apple made by Apple in iOS kernel. This is the same case with iOS 4.3 beta. Until iPhone Dev Team updates redsnow accordingly, we will have to wait. At first the jailbreak will still be tethered as comex’s untethered iOS 4.3 jailbreak is expected to jailbreak Verizon iPhone 4 as well.
For now, there is an unofficial PwnageTool which can jailbreak iPhone 4 only on iOS 4.3 beta1. It is not an official release and also does not preserve baseband. It means that if you are already relying on ultrasn0w to unlock iPhone 4, you should stay far away. This may also contain bugs and create problems after jailbreaking iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3 beta.
Caution: This guide has not been tested and is being provided for tinkerer and developers. Normal users and unlockers shouldn’t try it at all.
The Stuff needed to Jailbreak 4.3 Beta on iPhone 4
- Download iOS 4.3 Beta 1 for iPhone 4 [Apple’s Developer Account Required]
- Download Unofficial PwnageTool
- Download Latest iTunes
Phase 1: Run PwnageTool and select iPhone option .
Phase 2: Direct PwnageTool to the iOS 4.3 beta [IPSW].
Phase 3: Chose “Build” so that PwnageTool starts cooking custom 4.3 firmware for iPhone 4.
Phase 4: Once, custom iOS 4.3 beta is ready for iPhone 4. Choose DFU from the top menu to get iPhone into Pwned DFU mode.
Phase 5: Run iTunes and hold “ALT” to select “Restore”. Browse to the location where custom 4.3 beta prepared by PwnageTool is present.
Let iTunes do the rest and enjoy jailbroken iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3 features. For a stable jailbreak, we will have to wait until iPhone Dev Team breaks their silence. Don’t forget, Chronic Dev Team may release Greenpoison RC5 or GeoHot may return with Limera1n rc2.
