Should we be discussing about 4.3 jailbreak while there is no official sign of such firmware. iOS 4.3 may not be official but we can estimate that iOS 4.3 would be the next major update and will be in preparation. This is further established by claim of some blogs who have sources in Apple. It was earlier revealed that iOS 4.3 will be released to support a new digital newspaper format and improve Air Print. We might see a beta release in upcoming weeks.Jailbreak iPod Touch

Today, iPhone Dev Team has released a video which demonstrates a working untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak on iPod Touch 4G. The interesting stuff regarding this jailbreak is that it does not consume any new exploits and uses SHSH Blobs. This utterly means that iOS 4.3 will also be jailbroken right away on its time of release for iPhone, iPad, and iPodĀ  Touch.

@MuscleNerd isn’t it better to wait for 4.3 with untethered jb?

@LukaszCzekaj good question! Tonight’s method exposes no new holes, so it’s safe in that regard. Nothing burned.

@MuscleNerd will this backup plan only work for people who have 4.2b3 ssh backup?

@Mghay for this specific case, yep you need those Cydia 4.2b3 hashes (but the method is reusable, so can leverage future untethered JB too)

@comex is still working to bring an untether 4.2.1 jailbreak but it will likely use new exploits which might be fixed by Apple in iOS 4.3. If Apple fixes then his method will not Jailbreak 4.3 on iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. You are recommended to save your SHSH Blobs on current firmware as this will be a pre requiste to Jailbreak 4.3 if @Musclenerd releases his method.
