We hope that you have learned about Apple’s plans to reveal something Unforgettable tomorrow. It is very likely that final release of iOS 4.2 will drop alongside other announcements like iTunes streaming. iOS 4.2 is already delayed as it was expected to drop on 12th November but an iPad related WiFi bug popped up. Apple had to hold back and they released iOS 4.2 GM 2 to patch it. On the other side, iOS 4.2 build for iPhone and iPod Touch remained same.
It has been already reported that iOS 4.2 jailbreak and unlock and Cydia upgrade will follow once iOS 4.2 final release is revealed. In order to jailbreak 4.2 untethered on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, you must have saved SHSH Blobs. It was possible to jailbreak iOS 4.2 beta on iDevices but userland bug has been fixed.
For now, we know that iPhone Dev Team’s jailbreak will work for those who are in possession of SHSH Blobs. This means the untethered 4.2 jailbreak will not be available for out of the box devices. To compensate those devices, ih8sn0w has some intent. He is planning to include tethered 4.2 jailbreak for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch in sn0wbreeze
How many people would like to see 4.2 tethered support in sn0wbreeze?
It will not be purely tethered as he revealed while replying to a concern
@iH8sn0w ewww tethered sucks. You’re out and you need to reset ur phone? Fail!
@trueking7 i can make it semi untethered.
Lets see when he finally decides to bring the jailbreak support for OTB devices.
