This is totally unexpected but you can expect anything from GeoHot as he has released Limera1n. Limera1n has been released to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4 3GS, iPod Touch 4G 3G and iOS 3.2.2. The release is buggy as admitted by himself and is even beta. The true and trusted hackers have not recommended to use limera1n as it is even based on a stolen piece of exploit from @comex.

it does not work on the ipod touch 3rd generation 8gb because its actually a 2nd generation mc model. there is no such thing as as 3rd generation 8 gb
Wtf…This thing just ruined my Iphone3gs
I used limera1n to jailbreak a 32gb ipod touch 4th generation running 4.1 firmware. It worked. I downloaded cydia as well as a few other apps like categories. When making folders in categories the ipod made duplicate icons for each app. I tried hiding these apps but was unsuccessful. At this point I went into settings, general, reset, erase all content and settings. I did this because there was nothing on the ipod, no music, videos, pics, etc…The ipod went off, the apple logo appeared and the ipod will not turn off. Only when the battery runs out does the screen go black. I have attempted to restore in itunes. I can actually get the apple logo to leave and the usb plug appears with the itunes logo. Itunes recognizes the ipod and says it must be retored. I restored but the process is taking more than 10 minutes and itunes eventually says the software did not download successfully and to try again later. I have also tried rejailbreaking with limera1n. I can get into DFU mode and even get the limera1n logo to appear on the ipod. The ipod seems to want to reboot as I see the circular icon moving below the limera1n logo. But it does this for a period of time and venetually goes away and the apple logo reappears. What can I do now?
The same thing happened to me today i went to a different computer downloaded limera1n again then just follow through the intructions evtually itll work food luck
u will go to limera1n again then just press on both buttons on the ipod and wen it turns off start the steps of limera1n then now it work on itunes and u can restore it and if u cant just update it to 4.2.1 and wait for a program to jailbreak it if u do this it is fine and if u dont the ipod will never work

Worked for me, I had installed/updated to the 4.1.0 by accident, and Limera1n has worked for me, first try and it worked. I followed the instructions step-by-step and it worked, the app will NOT be installed on the FIRST page of apps. But on the SECOND PAGE (right). Then run, and tick Cydia, then install, the only thing that was wrong with Cydia is that the app was outdated, but it had a Auto-Updater and I just had to tick that and now it runs perfectly fine.

ok so i dont know whats going on but i have the iphone 3G and its just not working its sitting on release the power button for like 5 min or longer then it says retry i dont get whats going on someone please help, oh and now my phone is stuck in the DFU mode
press the power button and home button for 10 seconds and then release home button and hold power button for 15 seconds and itll turn on ok and it right and its posed to be switched from going to dfu mode
cydia hangs on install and iphone goes to slide to unlock screen. Will not install.

Limera1n is ROCK! all i did was:
1. Upgraded my iPhone 3.1.3 to 4.1 via normal procedure of iTune.
2. Downloaded Limera1n.
3. Run the Limera1n.
DONE! in just less than 10 minutes.
After that the Limera1n icon is shown on my iPhone.
Install Cydia and the source and package you wish. That’s it!

just follow the instruction from above ^ and you will jailbrake your iphone sucessfully, and yes after you jailbrake your iphone you will be able to download free apps by using intallous. need more info how to download installous let me know. and if your thinking about unlocking your iphone go to cydia which you download from limera1n and then go to search enter cydia click install, then go to manage in the bottom the click edit then add on the left and then enter repo666.ultrasnow.com and add source then install and your iphone is unlock.

Probably the easiest jailbreak iv done, no need to spend hours on the internet looking for guides and help just straight forward.
1, update to latest itunes, i updated my iphone aswel as i was on the 3.1.3 firmware ( save your shsh on cydia)
2, download limera1n
3,run limera1n and press make it rain.
it is that easy it was done and jailbroken within 10 mins defo gonna donate good work guys long live the jailbreak.
If you are attemting at Jailbreaking a 3rd Gen Ipod Touch, it is only possible to jailbreak 32gb and 64gb 8gb dose'nt work.

It looks like that you are confusing Jailbreak with unlock.

im running a ipod 3rd gen on firmware 4.1 i have a mc model and every 6 of the jailbreaks iv used have just eather not worked of like this one did just put my ipod in permanent recovery mode till i restore it i woulda thought by atleast version 4.3 we coulda had 4.1 jailbreaks working but just like the 6 programs i just downloaded and wasted bandwidth on 'a waste of my life' DON'T BROADCAST THESE ARE WORKING IF THEY DON'T FUCKING WORK thanks for keeping me up till 7 am in hopes i could get cydia on my ipod again
