While we are waiting eagerly when the clock ticks till 10:10:10 AM GMT on 10-10-10, the details regarding Greenpois0n are emerging. It has been officially revealed that upcoming Greenpois0n Jailbreak will support the latest bootrom only which is found in iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, and iPad. This implies that iPhone 3GS [new bootrom] and iPod Touch 3G users will not be the amongst having Fun on Sunday.

Greenpois0n will jailbreak 4.1 firmware on iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, and Apple TV while iOS 3.2.2 will be jailbroken on iPad. Greenpois0n is actually composed of SHAtter exploit which is tethered while it utilizes a userland vulnerability to make untethered jailbreak happen. The userland vulnerability has been provided by @comex of iPhone Dev Team while bootrom exploit is done by Chronic Dev Team.

Again, major thanks to @comex for getting greenpois0n untethered.

Please remember that SHAtter and greenpoison are /only/ possible on the fourth-gen devices: iPad, iPhone 4, and iPod touch 4G.

As Greenpois0n bring untethered jailbreak using a userland vulnerability, it will be soon fixed by Apple so we will lose untethered part until @comex brings a new kernel fix. You are recommended to save SHSH blobs now and right after the jailbreak.

SHAtter doesn’t apply to iPhone3GS (or iPod touch 3G). New owners of those should wait for future @comex JB

This is kinda bad news for these users but there is always hope which has been indicated by iPhone Dev Team. The next tool by @comex which will contains a userland jailbreak is the only choice for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 3G users. There is not eta regarding this but it May Be released after iPhone 4.2 firmware.
