Sn0wbreeze 2.0 is out for users to jailbreak their iDevices running iPhone 4.1 firmware. It is really useful for those who can’t use redsn0w 0.9.6 because it is only compatible with MAC for now. Besides, it retains baseband of your iPhone 3G and you can even unlock iPhone 4.1. Using redsn0w updates baseband and the current baseband has been patched to block ultrasn0w for now. It may take a long time to find a vulnerability in modern baseband.
Sn0wbreeze 2.0 works much like PwnageTool as it will prepare a custom firmware which will be later restored on iPhone 3G using iTunes. iPhone 3G must be jailbroken already. If it is not, you can use iReb to portray that iPhone 3G is jailbroken while restoring firmware
Here is an illustration to assist you in preparing a custom 4.1 firmware for iPhone 3G and later restoring it to iPhone 3G which will eventually jailbreak iPhone 3G 4.1.
- Download and Install latest iTunes if it isn’t already.
- Download sn0wbreeze 2.0.1 and 4.1 firmware for iPhone 3G.
- Execute sn0wbreeze 2.0.1 and select “Simple Mode”.
- You have to point to the 4.1 firmware for iPhone 3G which was downloaded in 2nd step.
- iPhone 4.1 firmware will be scrutinized by sn0wbreeze and return a success notification if verified.
- Choose “Activate iPhone“ (Hacktivation) if you were on unofficial carrier. Ignore it if you are on official carrier like AT&T
- Finally, sn0wbreeze will start cooking custom 4.1 firmware and will let you know when it is “Done”.
- Connect your iPhone 3G to the system and launch iTunes. Select your iPhone from the sidebar. Hold “Shift Key” and click on “Restore”. Now locate the custom iOS 4.1 prepared by s0nwbreeze. You are done with your part. Rest will be done by iTunes.
You have a jailbroken iPhone 3G 4.1 running. The other guides will be soon provided. iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, and iPad users have no chance. We have to wait for Greenpois0n.

Well I had the same problem but with another jailbreak. All what I did was to go to the settings in iPhone and erase all content and settings (it will take about an hour, but later you will have your content back),(after that there will be a symbol of connecting to iTunes), then open iTunes (first iTunes wouldn´t sync with iPhone), then hold power button and home button at the same time until the symbol will disappear and then hold only home button until the symbol ,,connecting to iTunes'' will appear again. Then iTunes finally will work with iPhone and you will be required to restore it. After the restore the iPhone will be backed up into the same settings with your content. I did this and after that my iPhone worked again.

I have 3Gs which has version 4.0.1, JB used JailbreakME with old bootroom.
I tried to install Spirit2Pwn from Cydia as you have mentioned above but the phone went to a loop in DFU mode..
I did restore and update from the iTunes, now it is asking me to insert the supported SIM to activate. even I am not sure if it is upgraded to version 4.1 or not.
I followed the above instructions using Sn0wbreeze but during preparing iphone restore stage it stops with error 1604

Hi, I have iphone 3gs(new bootrom, MC model) 3.1.2 jailbroken with blackra1n n unlocked. I didnt save shsh blobs then. But due to some problem, i restored to 4.0.2 Now there s no jailbreak for this FW. Then i downgraed to 4.0 without requirement of shsh blobs. But still there s no windows jailbreak for this FW as im not having shsh blobs saved. But now i saved shsh blobs for 4.0.2 and 4.0…. Now what can I do to jailbreak my iphone? I dont hav carrier sim, no shsh blobs for 3.1.2, Can i upgrade to 4.1 and jailbreak it? You need a WiFi internet connection to use JailbreakMe on 4.0 and then unlock with ultransn0w

when you upgraded to 4.1 you lost your jailbreak, if you saved your shsh blobs you could downgrade to 4.0 and then jailbreak again from there. If you phone says waiting for activation, you need a current AT&T sim card to activate, an used At&T card won't active

and now all i get is emergency call at the display.

you are pretty much out of luck if you require the unlock to use the phone. You have to wait for a 4.1 jailbreak and an unlock as well.
If you have non-activate SIM card from AT&T or borrow someone. Perform the following steps.
1) remove USB cable from Itune, leave Itune open.
2) Insert the non-active or old AT&T SIM card
3) plug the USB back in with itune being open. ..in few second you should able to get out of that screen and the phone will activated. Then you can jailbreak it from there with whatever you tools recommended.
This has been work for me in OS 3. and OS 4. I hope this still the case. Good Luck.

i also have a problem with connecting to the wifi at my house. its not found when i go to wifi. i know i have wifi because my ipod touch and laptop have service here.

I have an iPhone 3G with 4.1 on it. I have followed the instructions and everything looks like it worked. When I boot up I see the Snowbreeze splash screen and I have Cydia now. However, when I put my t-mobile sim in, it still says no service. I feel like I am sooo close but I don't know what I'm missing. Any ideas would be appreciated.
well you still need ultrsn0w from cydia otherwise you will be stuck without an unlock, if you upgraded through apple yo are out of luck at tthe moment

I’ve jailbroken my iOS 4.1 iphone3g. I’ve unlocked it with ultrasn0w but some how my iPhone says searching for about 10minutes then finally says no signal. Also iTunes says it can’t backup my iPhone because a session couldn’t be started. My iPhone also can’t receive push notifications. Anyone got any help??

I have restored the custom firmware and it also asked me before making a custom firmware that do you want to activate your iphone?
