Android 3.0 “GingerBread” will probably arrive with Tablets from Samsung and Toshiba later this year. In the meanwhile, it is being reported that Android 3.1 or Android 3.2 will be codenamed “Honey Comb.” It is going to be an incremental update to Android 3.0 GingerBread like Android 2.2 Froyo was to Android 2.1 Ecalir.
As it will come out after Android Tablets are in Market, it will probably fix and renovate Android 3.0 GingerBread to bring a more soothing experience for Tablet users if they going to compete iPad and upcoming Chrome OS Tablet. Roughly, iOS 5 and Next Gen iPhone will be near release at that time. Let’s see whether Android HoneyComb will meet the challenges.
The naming convention is also being preserved as after Gingerbread’s G, the codename should have been started with H. The previous version Cupcake, Donut, Éclair, and Froyo have also been in alphabetical order.
