The iOS 4.0.2 firmware update has arrived and it can be named as iPhone 4.0.2 Firmware for iPhone 4 3GS 3G. It has patched the JailbreakMe exploit as expected therefore it should not work no longer. Obviously, new iPhone 4 3GS will be shipped with iOS 4.0.2 firmware. Still there is now work around which will enable JailbreakMe to Jailbreak 4.0.2 Firmware.

Update 1: Jailbreak 4.0.2 will not be a Reality but you should upgrade iPhone 4 to 4.1 firmware as Greenpois0n will Jailbreak it on Sunday.
We have earlier analyzed the JailbreakMe 4.1 possibility and we found out that it looks like a new vulnerability has been found by comex. It is unclear though will it be a fix to make JailbreakMe work once again for Apple’s Fix or a new tool like Spirit Jailbreak 4.1 will emerge. Most probably, the next tool to jailbreak 4.0.2 or Jailbreak 4.1 will be out in next month when iOS 4.1 Beta moves to stable status.

Dear Lord, I sure do hope so. I messed myself over updating my phone and didn't pay attention to the ".2". I just want to cry. I have a 3gs on old bootrom that was jailbroken and unlocked with blackra1n, but never used cydia so I never backed anything up to it or used any Cydia shsh. I upgraded my iphone and now it is locked back up. I have to use an old blackberry till I have my iPhone back so I can run it once again on TMobile like I was. For now, I have a super cool iPod.
If anyone out there iH8sn0w people, Geoholtz, Comex, anyone anyone PLEASE! come out with a way to jailbreak and unlock 4.0.2!!! (that was never jailbroken before or backed up to Cydia shsh.)
Downgrade to 4.0.1 and use Jailbreakme again like I did; works fine.
I've done pretty much the same, i havent save any cydia shsh or used any before i upgraded and i had to do it because my iPhone somehow after a restart just got stuck on the logo and didnt wanted to come back again. Tried to downgrade but didnt work at all, it comes up with a unknown error. any ideas?

I had something kind of liek that happen with my ipod. I had done a download that made it to where it wouldnt completely lock my ipod up but now i cant jailbreak it or downgrade. Apple sucks right now. They make a great product but then put crappy features on it and expect us to be happy. Jailbreaking is the only way to unleash the full power of apple products.

Ok guys if u have updated to 4.0.2 and u want to down grade to 4.0.1 where u chose “YES, Make my life easier” in cydia jail-broken on iphone4 this is what u do and need! Ready? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> First download “iTunes version 9.1…” download Firmware V4.0.1″ and then download the latest version of “iTunes V9.2….” NOW, Get rid of and uninstall any iTunes shit on ur PC!!! U don’t need to edit host file “stand down and disregard editing host.sl file”. 1. Put ur iphone4 in dfu “DFU” mode not recovery mod ur screen needs to be blank and black NOT displaying plug-into iTunes shit. 2. Install older version if iTunes V9.1… 3. Plug ur iphone4 in after iTunes V9.1 is installed. (if u get error message saying a newer version if iTunes library is detected and iTunes closes “close iTunes and delete the cunt ituneslibrary.exe”…. Pardon my words im human so be nice”.). After u deleted iTunes library reopen iTunes v9.1… And iTunes will detect ur iphone4 in recovery mode when really it’s in DFU mode. 4. Now that iTunes has detected u in recovery mode (press and hold the shift/alt key and choose restore in iTunes NOT update or anything else) PRESS and HOLD SHiFT or ALT depending of what operating system u use and CHOoSE “RESTORE”. Now it will give u a option which firmware u want to restore on YOU choose THE FIRMWARE YOU SAVED YOUR ShSH In CYDIA which is firmware V4.0.1!!!!!!!!!! OK. You will never get a error message again and ur iPhone will restore back to 4.0.1 from 4.0.2. 5. After u have recovered u need the latest iTunes for iTunes to detect ur iphone4. Remember iphone4 arrived with firmware 4.0.1 when iTunes was still v9.2, v9.1 iTunes was out when iphone3gs first came out!! Anyway yeah so after u have recovered update iTunes NOT IPHONE!!! Now u can jailbreak soon as ur ophone4 is activated by the latest iTunes.

This is only possible if you've previously saved your SHSH in cydia from when you had 4.0.1 installed on your iPhone. If you're trying to jailbreak for the first time and have 4.0.2 (like myself), it is impossible to downgrade to 4.0.1 as Apple no longer signs version 4.0.1, and cydia wont have your SHSH 4.0.1 saved.

at this time (22/8/2010) you can't jailbreak 4.0.2 exept a 3g iphone with the pwnagetool. I got stuck at 4.0.2 after upgrading my jailbroken 3gs 3.0 and waiting for the new JB to come out

It sounded to good to be true… and in my case it is… followed all the steps as mentioned here to downgrade my iPhone4 that was upgraded as only option to get rid of some annoying white lines on top of my screen.
removed any iTunes stuff installed 9.1 but when i select 4.1 it returns with the famous error 3194… any suggestions who to bypass Apples OS check would be really helpful dince i can not use my iPhone without jailbreak…

nah, the only way you can is if u had the shsh blobs saved with sauriks or locally on ur computer. sorry man. no worries tho. im on the same boat. jus gotta wait till jailbreaks out for 4.0.2

Ok when u downgrade download the firmware u want from any place as long as the file has ipsw at the end and looks like a Lego box. Then download tinyumbrella. After run tinyumbrella and have iDevice hooked up to comp. Press advanced options (or settings whatever) then save the shsh file with the type of the firmware U want. Then run TSS server and run iTunes. Put your iPod/iPhone in recovery modes and select your firmware and it should downgrade. The only reason is bcuz tinyumbrella is a software that convinces iTunes that it is connected to apple even if it’s not. After restore have fun!! If u r stuck on recovery on tinyumbrella there is a kick out of recovery button.

You need to download iOS 4.0.1 directly and then manually update through iTunes.

I tried downgrading my I3g to 4.0 from 4.0.2 but it got stuck somewhere in the middle of downgrading, and this is where there’s only a bar on the iPhone screen. On the comp it said restoring but only to halfway. Then it got stuck there, I thought of being patient with it so I left it for 2 hours but still the damn thing didn’t move an inch. Any help guys? It not going to happen because apple are releasing 4.1 soon and the reason they put the pdf fix on 4.0.2 was so that someone would make a jailbreak fix so that apple could impliment on the 4.1 fw so if you forgot or didn’t make a shsh or updated just wait till 4.1, till the jailbreak is released it must hurt but that the only thing to do.

I have iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0. Can I upgrade it to 4.0.1? I understand that I can download it and Option-Update, but from reading on the web, it seems that Apple has to sign something, which it does not do with 4.0.1 any more. Is that right? Is there a way around this? Can someone clarify?
If you want to remain jailbroken then 4.0.1 is safe. Signing means that you will not be able to downgrade later on for 4.0.1. If you save 4.0 Blobs then you can downgrade. 4.0.2 is not currently jailbroken so stay away

You can update to 4.0.1 if you like but you'll have to download that particular ipsw off the net, if you upgrade through itunes it'll install 4.0.2 that cannot at present be jailbroken. you may want to download UMBRELLA as this'll save your 4.0 shsh files and send to cydia, these are important if you want to revert back to 4.0 at anytime. 4.0.1 can be jailbroken easily through jailbreakme

Apple Signs this saying that your device is the current version. iTunes will only install the newest version, and saving an SHSH from when the version was the current version, will allow iTunes to install that version of firmware. As far as I know, it is only possible to save SHSH when jailbroken…
Hi Tanner, If you had your iphone jailbroken before, and Cydia backed up some files in a server, you can downgrade with the methods explained in some threads. But in order to do this, you needed your iphone to be jb at some point, and saved you SHSH blobs from Cydia. If the method didn't work, you probably did not have SHSH Blobs (as many of us

For all kids that don’t have the time to read , here is the solution that will jailbreak your Iphone 4G on 4.0.2 FW:
1. Take Iphone and put it on a table or in a drawer.
2. Go to DevTeam site.
3. Read there ( hint: a 4.0.2 will not be out because some people are tired to play the cat and mouse game, that mean that is worthless to release a jb just to be patched few days later)
4. Wait some amount of days.
5. Done.
