then after a couple of hours, tried it again this time it didn’t reboot, but sad to say nothing happens, after I slide to Jailbreak nothing pops up like in the youtube video, there should be a downloading screen.

Is there something wrong with the server?

from all the comments I’ve read here only Andy got it to run.

Reply

auctuz August 2, 2010 at 07:30

it seems to be a common problem for the ipad 3G models..wifi models seems to have a higher success rate..
Anyway, COMEX's latest twit says he uploaded a patch that might solve this problem..so probably have to try again..

tried it on my ipad 3g wifi 64gb os 3.2.1 , at first had a problem with downloading it from the jailbreakme website, so tried the other method of pdf trying to sync with itunes , it just crashed itunes even when i had ibook installed, later got back to the website again and installed it finally got cydia , updated it and installed appsync for os 3.2 so had to restart , and BOOM! ipad stopped working crashed everytime it was trying to restart, so went in DFU mode and did a restore, that crashed my windows 7 x86 :p then restarted and somehow got it to restore and reinstall firmware and got almost everything from previous backup luckly :) i suggest not to try it out on ipad yet, although it worked on my iphone 3G on os 4.0.1

Reply

lori August 2, 2010 at 15:47

Please help me! I have a same problem what you had. How can you restore the original firmware? What is this DFU mode?

I have an iPad 32gb wifi, mine would say downloading please wait, but then when it finishes downloading it closes safari, and nothing happens.

Mark Bieber August 2, 2010 at 11:48

There needs to be an update to this jailbreak method for 3G ipads. I shall be waiting eagerly till then. If you have a 3G iPad ( with 3.2.1 ) don’t bother even trying this. It won’t wreak your iPad, it just reboots it and waists your time, which if reading this isn’t that valuable.

Tommy August 2, 2010 at 17:56

Crap… I was avoiding 3.2.1 because of JB issues. Now I have 3.2.1 and Ipad 3G without Cydia, only repoots… damn..

i have ipad 64 3g and after stoping celluar data (3g connection) and working only in wifi mode the IPAD has sucessfuly installed cydia.

Reply

alexpirate August 2, 2010 at 21:05

and what after I managed to install cydia on my IPAD. However trying to use it, it appears that there are continuous problems with it. Can not load data, etc. Constantly gives error "Bad Gateway" or other such thinks, how can `t find something and etc. So I wonder what I was eager to have cydia because there were many more applications that are not in the AppStore and now I just wondering why?

Jailbroken August 3, 2010 at 00:06

I have an iPad 3G 3.2.1

Jailbreak installed fine (it might be a good idea to mention when you jailbreak to use Safari, not any of the other browsers that are available) but after attempting to install 'Backgrounder' the iPad attempted to reboot, was unable to, and got stuck in a reboot loop (brings up Apple logo with the loading symbol indefinitely, even when restarted).

It appears the jailbreak for the iPad 3G 3.2.1 is a big fail for now…

If your iPad hangs, go to settings-safari and turn the popup blocker off. Clear the cache, cookies and history than reboot. Try the jailbreakme again.
Worked for me!

If your stuck in the restart loop, Can you restore your iPad using Itunes ?

Reply

SadPad August 4, 2010 at 11:54

I broke my Pad!

Jailbreak worked fine on 3.2.1. Cydia was there and through that I tried to install backgrounder. It seemed to be doing its thing – the apple on a blackground was there with a spinning time indicator – but it stayed like that for too long. After about 15 minutes I decided to reset the iPad using the simultaneous sleep/wake and home button hold technique. Now it gets stuck on the apple on blackground screen and can do nothing else. Is there a different reset to the one I mentioned above? Anyone who knows how to fix this is an automatic legend.

Try to restore It

Reply

Rafa August 5, 2010 at 05:38

try it. it worked for me. thought I had bricked my ipad. if it doesn't work the first time, keep trying. this is the only method that worked for me. you have to restore though.

Reply

Moi August 5, 2010 at 21:45

I had the same problem with 3.2 after installing backgrounder. I connected the iPad to the computer and ran Spirit again. It fixed the problem.

well just dont do it for an ipad 3g it wont work you are just spoiling it if you have a wifi or a 2g it will work.
ive got a 3g and i cant get paid for free awwwwwwwwwwwwww

SadPad:
If you still haven't got the iPad to reset, just keep using that technique. MAKE SURE that once the apple logo is present, you hold the sleep and home button together until the logo disappears. Then, when it disappears, let go of the power button but continue holding the home button until iTunes detects it and says that it is in Restore Mode. Also, make sure then while you're doing all this, keep the iPad plugged in to the computer. Then, you have no choice but to restore it:(

P.S. It happened to me too when I installed Backgrounder. I think there's something wrong with the app right now.

What's the status of backgrounder on iPad 3.2.1. Was it updated? Did anybody test it? Will it work, or should I expect to be forced to restore?

Reply

Dan August 16, 2010 at 10:01

Mine crashed as well with backgrounder. I thought I bricked it at first but after using the same technique you describe I was able to restore.

f**k i think my ipad is bricked . i went to jailbreakme.com, the browser crashed and eveything was fine. then i rebooted the ipad later and now it's stuck on the apple logo thing. itunes won't recognise it and i tried the holding down the home and sleep button to try and restore it but nothing happens. can anyone help?? please!!!!

Reply

Mike August 19, 2010 at 20:24

I did the same thing where I only see the apple logo. I got to restore by holding down the home and power button until in shut off and turned back on and let go of the power button after it turned in. I also had the sync cable plugged in the whole time. I hope this helps.
