Apple has taken a giant step by announcing iPhone 4 since the release of very first iPhone. Another prominent announcement by Apple is to call iPhone OS 4.0 as iOS 4.0. Why this decision has been made? Actually, the so called iPhone OS 4.0 was being used by iPod Touch and iPad as well but it was named after iPhone. Now the Apple’s hot product, iPad, imposes to bring a new identity to the OS which has been revealed and it is iOS 4.0.
The renaming does not change actually the OS and iOS 4.0 is still the same previews in March. Steve in his keynote has declared the availability of stable iOS 4.0 for developers today although public release is not yet announced. So, iOS 4.0 does not change the scenario for Hackers to unlock iOS 4.0 as there is no difference in unlocking iPhone 4.0 firmware or iOS 4.0 because the jailbreak remains same and the baseband to be unlocked is not different.
Therefore, MuscleNerd’s announcement still holds true in which he promises that unlock for iPhone 3.1.3 and iPhone 4.0 (iOS 4.0) will be available soon after iPhone 4 and iOS 4.0 become avaible for public. This means that 1-2 weeks after 24th June {the avialability date for iPhone 4}, we would be able to unlock iPhone 3.1.3 [05.12.01] and iOS 4.0 by the end of month.
Likely the tool to unlock iOS 4.0 will be the next version of ultrasn0w as it has been continued since 3.1.2 firmware. Ultrasn0w is actually the tool by iPhone Dev Team to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 firmware and we hope that they will be the first one to unlock iOS 4.0 and tool will be released as ultrasn0w.
