The most current baseband firmware 05.12.01 and new bootrom has also been exploited but there are not tools available. These unlocking tools are expected to release with iPhone 4 running iPhone 4.0 firmware.

This is a jailbreaking tool developed by iPhone Dev Team and support jailbreaking iPhone 3G/3GS running iPhone OS 3.1 up to 3.1.3 version. The tool is only compatible with MAC operating system.

iPhone Dev Team is winner in race to jailbreak 4.0 firmware. They have release a beta version which only works to jailbreak 4.0 firmware on iPhone 3G. Only MAC version is available for Download. This is for developers only and normal users should not try this.
Based on the results of previous battles between Apple and Hackers and the release of redsn0w 0.9.5, it can be deduced that users will get tools to unlock their iPhone 4 and jailbreak iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4 running iPhone 4.0 firmware.
Update 1: limera1n jailbreak may be the next tool by GeoHot. It is expected that it will be jailbreak 4.0 for iPhone and iPad 3.2 but nothing can be ensured till limera1n download is available or any official information is released.
