Anyone who is spending some or most of time on Facebook for social activity may get bored of default layout of Facebook profile. The user may also want to tweak some default layout parameters which can provide a better view and management of page. The user may even not be interested in some of Facebook features like ads, group invitations, friend suggestions and etc. The customization can be done using browser addons/extensions/plugins or userscripts.

Beautify Facebook is a simple extension which customizes layout of Facebook profile in several ways. It changes the page background with a gradient theme. The update boxes get transparent with a shadow and rounded corner effect. The navigation bar at the top remains fixed during scrolling. An emoticon bar appears in the chat pop which eases the insertion of emoticons.
Facebook Fixer passes the control of customization to users. It is actually a port of popular userscript. So, you can either install the extension or userscript in Chrome. The users have a configuration tab under the settings menu in top navigation bar. The extension presents a healthy list of parameters that can be customized.
On Home Page: Events, Requests, Suggestions, Pokes section can be hidden. The width can be extended for better viewing of the text. Streams for 3rd party applications can be restricted.
In Live Feed: stories related to event, fan, group, link, friend, photo, profile and many others can be concealed.
Pictures: settings can be used to view larger profile or album pictures in popup. Some alteration to popup like delay before display and its position can be made. Thumbnails for album images or tagged phots on a page can be created automatically.
Birthday/Events: section will let you create links for downloading an iCal file or add the information of events in Google Calendar. Support for a domain hosting Google Apps is also available.
There is a plethora of tweaking choices left which can be only experienced when you will personally use this extension.
Facebook Styler will let you alter the position of sidebar in Facebook layout if you don’t want to remove it at all although it has options to hide these boxes in sidebar. Feed settings can also be tweaked.
