Twitter may have stopped its exponential growth but none can predict its future. Recently, Twitter has stressed its news and information network strategy by altering the question of status updates from “What are you doing?” to “What’s happening?”. In its boom, it has expanded its footprint in many diverse fields like news, education, emergencies and many others. Its micro blogging nature can also keep it alive.

Only 40% of Twitter users are retained but who sticks may get addicted to it. Many of these Twitter users may have switched to the Chrome for daily web use. If they had used some sort of plugins/addons in their previous web browser to manage twitter, here is the extension that can manage their twitter account from Chrome.

Chrowety
It is not just an extension but a pretty simple alternative of a desktop Twitter client. It is equipped with all enhanced features that I would like to see in a Chrome extension. The user can sign in through login api or can use oauth protocol for more security. Once you are logged in, you can view home, mentions, direct messages, favorites and lists. You can interact with these features as smoothly as you do on twitter account web page or on a client. It displays notifications when new tweets arrive. Drafts of status update or a reply are automatically saved. The user can easily view photos from Twitpic/Tweetphoto or YouTube videos in the Chrowety frame. It also supports translation of tweets and the language can be selected from configuration.

If a click is performed on a user’s picture, the avatar is zoomed and user’s profile can be viewed as well. There is support for six popular U.R.L. shortening services. Chrowety is also multilingual and interface language can be changed to German, Spanish, Dutch, and Portugese.

Chrowety can be configured in many ways. In main tab, you can change the refresh time and number of tweets to show on Home, Mentions, and Messages. URL Shortener can be modified along with some alert settings.

In Interface tab, the height of Chrowety Frame/Popup can be adjusted. The user can also adjust the font size of tweet and enable/disable text shadow. Choice for Interface and Translation language is also made here. You can also tweak the “What’s up” question.
Chrowety is the best extension to Tweet from Chrome. If the improvements in queue are made, it may fully replace a Twitter Desktop Client. The extension has been tested in Windows. If you have utilized it in Linux or Mac, do update us.
