Mouse is one of the greatest peripherals invented for personal computer. Most users would choose a mouse to use if asked for a choice between keyboard and mouse. It is much easier to navigate and execute application with a mouse than keyboard and on screen keyboard can be used an alternative to physical key board. Also the scroll wheel in mouse boosts the document and web navigation to another level. If mouse wouldn’t have existed, the gamers would have never experienced a plethora of First Person Shooter games .
Besides the features introduced by physical components, software utilities also add nice and customizable functionalities in mouse. Mouse Shaker is such an application which recognizes your mouse gestures and then perform an action. These mouse gestures are usually symbols e.g. if I draw “F” on my PC, it launches
Firefox. The setup is pretty much simple and you can easily add desired symbols for different applications.
After launching the application, click to “add gesture”. A window with a canvas will appear. You have to name the symbol and draw the symbol in the white canvas. There are three options at the left of canvas.
- You can erase the drawing at once.
- Choose the action to be performed after symbol is recognized. This window contains a lot of gesture actions to perform which can’t be described in detail here. These include Launch an application, switch between windows, launch a web page,and move between pages, to name a few.
- Draw the symbol again and it verifies whether you can draw the symbol again or not.
There are already some gesture available which can be used to handle a Media Player. Theses gesture and your own customized gestures can be altered by clicking “Edit Gesture” option in main window of Mouse Shaker.
The gesture is drawn using the middle mouse button by default. To make a change, go to edit menu and select settings. You can also choose to launch it at windows start up and hide tray icon.
Mouse Shaker also enables you to use the Aero Snap function introduced in Windows 7. This function lets you to drag a window in any direction after releasing the window. It is by default active and you can adjust it in the Aero Snap tab available in settings window.
There is an advance settings tab which lets you adjust gesture incorrect percentage depending upon how artistic you are. The waiting time between an unfinished gesture and new gesture can also be adjusted.
The last tab enables you to assign hotkeys for different actions available i.e. Mouse Shaker can also be utilized as a hotkey manager for common tasks performed on a PC.
In short, Mouse Shake is an awesome Mouse Gesture utility which can act as a simple Hot Key Manager. In addition, it also brings Aero Snap feature of Windows 7 to Windows XP.

I have downloaded Mouse Shaker to my PC, and it’s Awesome! This software has a very nice look, It’s user friendly, and the Aero snap is so cool!
