Whatever you are doing on a computer, you are dealing with files. During the activity, you often perform management and arrangement of files. Obviously, files may be of certain types and there are some file types that are dealt frequently. Some situation may arise that you have to move a sack of file to a specific location or a single file to the location. Doing it with the standard procedure on Windows is quite inefficient.
DropIt is a free and portable application to manage the files that are treated often. Its default icon looks like a download manager icon. Whenever you want to move a file, just drag and drop it to the icon. For the very first time you will be asked to choose a location for the specific file type. After you select, the directory will be
default location for the file type you just moved. If you don’t want to associate a location, the file type will be added to excluded file formats list.
To view the associated folders with specific file formats, right click on the icon and select manage.I have selected My Documents folder to be associated with “pdf”. Choose the file type and the associated folder is displayed, You can alter the location by selecting another folder or just delete the affiliation. Similarly, you can add the association for another file format from “Manage” window. Choose the file and extension will appear in the box. Then select the folder and click apply.
DropIt lets you choose what action to take when a file is drooped. You can choose it from settings window opened by right clicking the icon and then selecting setting.
